IMPACT-BASED

WARNINGS

A. Orange level 5 warning for disruptive snow resulting in traffic disruptions and closure of passes and some communities temporarily inaccessible expected over the high lying areas of the northern parts of the Eastern Cape as well the Drakensberg mountains in KwaZulu-Natal. B. Yellow level 1 for disruptive rain is expected over the western parts of the Free State and the northeastern parts of the Northern Cape (south of Kuruman) until Sunday morning. C. Yellow level 4 warning for disruptive rainfall over the Walter Sisulu local municipality of the eastern cape which could lead to dangerous driving conditions, traffic disruptions as well as localized flooding. WARNINGS

Nil ADVISORIES

1. Very cold conditions are expected in places on the Highveld and along the escarpment of Mpumalanga, the eastern and central parts of the Northern Cape, northern parts of the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal interior and the Free State.

2. Snow is expected over the extreme southern parts of the Northern Cape, the Drakensberg Mountains in KwaZulu-Natal as well as the northern interior regions of the Eastern Cape.

3. Strong winds are expected over the North West province and the Free Sate on Saturday.

PROVINCIAL WEATHER OVERVIEW

GAUTENG PROVINCE

Cloudy in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and cold with windy conditions. The expected UVB sunburn Index Extreme

MPUMALANGA PROVINCE

Morning fog patches over the southern and eastern Highveld areas, otherwise cloudy and cold to very cold with drizzle along the escarpment areas. It will be cool in the Lowveld.

LIMPOPO PROVINCE

Cloudy and cool to cold with drizzle and fog patches along the escarpment. It will be windy in the western and central parts.

NORTH-WEST PROVINCE

Fine and cool, but cloudy in the south where isolated showers and thundershowers are expected.

FREE STATE

Cloudy and cold to very cold. Scattered to widespread showers and thundershowers are expected in the west, otherwise isolated, with snowfall possible along the Lesotho Border.

NORTHERN CAPE

Fine in the extreme west, otherwise cloudy and cold, but cool in the north with scattered to widespread showers and thundershowers in the east. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-easterly.

WESTERN CAPE

Cloudy with isolated showers in the north east where it will be cold, otherwise fine and cool. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly to south-easterly but strong in the south-west at times. The expected UVB sunburn Index Moderate

WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE

Cloudy and cold to very cold, with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers over the interior. The wind along the coast will be Moderate to fresh easterly.

EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE

Cloudy and cold to very cold with scattered to widespread showers and thundershowers, but isolated along the southern coast. Disruptive snowfalls are possible along the northern high lying areas. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate easterly, becoming moderate to fresh northeasterly during late morning.

KWAZULU-NATAL

Cloudy and cold but very cold in the west with isolated showers and rain but scattered in the south. The wind along the coast will be Light to moderate southerly to south-easterly north of Durban otherwise easterly to north-easterly. The expected UVB sunburn Index Moderate
