If you’re a sun lover, we hate to be the one’s to tell you that we will not be seeing a whole lot of it for the next week.

A strong low pressure system is finally moving into South Africa starting late today. Based on current climate model data, at the time of this writing, this Low-Pressure system looks set to linger over South Africa for at least the next 7 days and possibly longer.

What this means for us is Rainfall and most welcome rainfall indeed. Our rainfall season has been off to a very bad start with failing forecasts and very hot conditions to exacerbate our drought conditions in many parts of South Africa.

Starting from Saturday 9 November onward we expect to now see some quite widespread rainfall for the interior and Eastern parts of South Africa.

Kwazulu-Natal especially looks set to receive a lot of rainfall above any other province but we are seeing very good rainfall estimates for Gauteng, Mpumalanga and the Eastern Free State too.

We do believe this will be the rainfall that gets our agricultural growing season off to a start, a late start but a start nonetheless. Our maize and sunflower belts desperately need rain to get our crops growing and it appears the next few days signals the start of this growing season.
