IMPACT-BASED

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Matzikama municipality of the Western Cape, over the northern and eastern parts of Northern Cape, in places over the North West, central and eastern parts of the Free State, over the Lowveld and Lephalale municipality of Limpopo as well as over Matatiele, Chris Hani and Joe Qqabi municipalities of the Eastern Cape. ADVISORIES – Heatwave conditions resulting in persistently high temperatures exceeding the average maximum are expected over the central part of North West and the north-eastern parts of Free State until Monday. Under this condition, prolonged exposure to the midday sun poses health risks; hence, is advisable to seek shades and keep hydrated.

PROVINCIAL WEATHER OVERVIEW

GAUTENG PROVINCE

Partly cloudy and warm becoming cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers in the afternoon. The expected UVB sunburn Index Very high

MPUMALANGA PROVINCE

Fine and warm becoming cloudy in the afternoon with scattered showers and thundershowers but isolated in the north-east.

LIMPOPO PROVINCE

Fine and hot becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon with isolated showers and thundershowers in the south and west by the evening.

NORTH-WEST PROVINCE

Partly cloudy and hot with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers in the east.

FREE STATE

– Fine and hot but partly cloudy in the east with isolated afternoon thundershowers.

NORTHERN CAPE

Partly cloudy over the southern interior in the morning otherwise fine and cool to warm, but hot in the east. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south- easterly.

WESTERN CAPE

– Partly cloudy and cool to warm with a chance of rain along the south coast in the morning. It will become fine over the south-western parts and eastern interior in the afternoon. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south- easterly but moderate south-westerly along the south coast. The expected UVB sunburn Index Extreme

WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE

Fine and warm over the interior but cloudy along the coast with morning rain. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-westerly.

EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE

– Partly cloudy and warm, becoming cloudy south of the escarpment from the afternoon with a chance of light rain in the evening to the east of Queenstown. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-westerly.

KWAZULU-NATAL

– Morning fog over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cool but warm in the west. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected in the afternoon. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly. The expected UVB sunburn Index Moderate

Yellow level 2 Damaging winds leading to localised damage to settlements (formal and informal) and reduced visibility due to dust storms are expected over eastern parts of Northern Cape and western parts of Free State .

WARNINGS

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over Beaufort West local municipality in the Western Cape, northern parts of the Eastern Cape, Central and eastern parts of the Northern Cape, south-western parts of the North-West province as well as the western parts Free State province ADVISORIES A.

Hot and humid weather will result in extremely uncomfortable conditions in places along the coast and adjacent interior of KwaZulu-Natal.

Heatwave conditions over the north eastern parts of Free State and the central parts of the North West Province until Monday.
