1. Heat wave conditions are expected over the Richersveld municipality in the Northern Cape, West Coast District interior, in places over the City of Cape Town and Stellenbosch municipality in the Western Cape until Monday (19-21/03/2022).

GAUTENG PROVINCE

– Partly cloudy and warm with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers. The expected UVB sunburn Index Very High

MPUMALANGA PROVINCE

Morning fog patches on the southern Highveld and along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm. Isolated evening showers and thundershowers are expected on the extreme south-western Highveld.

LIMPOPO PROVINCE

Fine over the central and western parts in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm.

NORTH-WEST PROVINCE

– Cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers.

FREE STATE

Cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered around Lesotho border.

NORTHERN CAPE

Fine, becoming partly cloudy and warm to hot but cool in the east where it will be cloudy. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected over the western interior and the extreme south-east from the afternoon. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate southerly to south-easterly, becoming fresh to strong in the afternoon.

WESTERN CAPE

Fine and cool to warm but hot to very hot over the western interior where heat wave conditions are expected, otherwise partly cloudy with drizzle along the south coast and isolated afternoon thundershowers over the eastern interior. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate southerly to south-easterly but fresh to strong along the south-west coast. The expected UVB sunburn Index Extreme

WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE

– Cloudy with fog patches in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate easterly.

EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE

Cloudy with fog patches in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the north from late afternoon. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north-easterly, becoming easterly.

KWAZULU-NATAL

– Morning fog over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm but cool in the west. Scattered afternoon showers and thundershowers are expected in the south-west, otherwise isolated except in the north-east. The wind along the coast will be moderate easterly to north-easterly.
